The Association of Students with Disabilities conducted a situational test to check for discrimination against wheelchair users in taxi services. For this purpose, a situational discrimination test was organized in which both wheelchair users and non-wheelchair users attempted to obtain a taxi at three different locations in Belgrade. In all 10 situations, discrimination against people with disabilities who use wheelchairs was confirmed in the provision of taxi services.
Following this, the Association of Students with Disabilities conducted another type of situational discrimination test by calling taxi services in 12 cities across Serbia. It was found that none of the 42 taxi service providers had vehicles adapted for wheelchair users, indicating a 100% level of discrimination against wheelchair users in taxi service provision.
The situational testing of discrimination was conducted as one of the activities within the project “TAXI TRANSPORT FOR ALL!” implemented by the Association of Students with Disabilities with the support of the ACT Project funded by the Swiss Government.
