The academic inclusive association realizes its work through the implementation of projects and programs. The project functioning of the Academic Inclusive Association determines the realization of specific activities and the achievement of certain goals. The realization of the program consists of the continuous implementation of one-year projects with specific goals that contribute to the achievement of the strategic goals of the Academic Inclusive Association.
In its work so far since 2000, the Academic Inclusive Association has completed over 150 projects, 35 of which are part of regular programs. The projects of the Academic Inclusive Association have been supported by over 30 different donors, including state ministries and city authorities of the City of Belgrade, programs of the European Union, embassies, domestic and foreign foundations and other donor organizations. Some of the Association’s projects have been realized for years and for that reason those projects have become programs. The project Inkluzijada since 2011. With the support of Ministry of Education, Science and Technological development the association realizes every year, a total of about 400 students with and without disabilities participated in the final manifestation.
Since 2016, the association also realises program for equalizing abilities in the high education for young with disabilities by the support of city social protection secretariat. Through this program, the AIA empowers young people with disabilities and organizes a numerous educational activities for them, but also realises public events and works to raise awareness about the rights of young people with disabilities. By the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sport, the Academic Inclusive Association has since 2013 increased the capacities of youth organizations to include young people with disabilities in youth activities through workshops and training sessions for youth workers. In addition, since 2019, the Association has dewoted itself to empowering high school students with disabilities to promote social inclusion through the process of peer mentoring.
